Why Xavi’s entry to the United States has been denied

After Barcelona’s head coach Xavi was refused entry to the United States, preseason preparations for the club suffered a major setback.

In preparation for the 2022–23 season, Xavi’s Barçelona will go to the US for four friendlies, including one against Real Madrid.

Frenkie de Jong, a target for Manchester United, has drawn a lot of interest as to whether or not he would join the team’s journey, and on Saturday it was revealed that he will in fact cross the Atlantic with them.

A spanner has been put in the plans, though, since Xavi is not permitted to go with the team because of “some administrative and passport concerns.”

Due to his three trips to Iran while playing for the Qatari team Al Sadd, Xavi now needs a special visa to enter the US.

Barcelona thought the problem would be handled in time for this weekend’s flight, but on Friday they learned that Xavi would not be receiving a travel permission and that the problem would have to wait until Monday.

The Blaugrana currently assume that their head coach will fly out to Miami to meet up with the team in the middle of the next week. Robert Lewandowski is anticipated to join him once his transfer from Bayern Munich is finalized.

Why Xavi Has Been Refused Entry to the United States was the title of the article’s original 90min publication.
