Marcos Alonso swaps Chelsea for FC Barcelona
Marcos Alonso joins La Liga giants FC Barcelona as a free agent after terminating his contract with Chelsea football club.
The 31-year-old joins Barcelona after six years at the Stamford Bridge.
Marcos Alonso who joined Chelsea in 2016 won the Premier League, FA Cup, FIFA club world cup, Europa League and the Uefa Champions League during his six years stint with the Blues.
Alonso returns to the La Liga after more than a decade away from the La Liga.
The former RM Castilla player will be competing with Jordi Alba and Alejandro Balde for the left-back position in Xavi’s team.
His contract termination and switch to Barca saw Gabonese striker Aubameyang also heading in the opposite direction.
Alonso will be handed the number 17 shirt and will not be able to feature for Barca as they take on Sevilla.
