Prior to the Tour, Team Cofidis announces the recruitment of Mbappe, which they later regret.
Team Cofidis, a cycling team competing in the UCI WorldTeam division, announced on social media that it has acquired Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
After announcing his decision not to extend his contract with PSG, the Frenchman, who has one year left on his deal, has been linked to Real Madrid.
“We are proud to welcome a new rider to our ranks. Kylian Mbappe will also have the mission of helping Guillaume Martin to lap the next Tour de France,” Team Cofidis posted on their Twitter account.
However, the tweet featuring Mbappe in the team jersey was later taken down, and Team Cofidis had to retract their statement.

The team currently includes Spanish cyclists such as Jonathan Lastra, Ion Izagirre, Jose Herrada, Jesus Herrada, and Ruben Fernandez.
In the last Tour de France, their most notable rider was Frenchman Guillaume Martin, who achieved a commendable tenth-place finish.
