As the new year draws near, things for Barcelona are not going as planned.
A 4-2 loss to Girona added insult to injury to the team’s dismal run of play. They lost out on the season’s championship race as a result of the outcome.
There were rumors of dissatisfaction circulating in the Barcelona locker room shortly after the team’s loss to Girona, with several players doubting Xavi’s talents.
Adria Albets of El Larguero stated in a recent report that things are becoming worse inside the Barcelona circle.
According to Albets, there are conflicting reports from Xavi Hernandez and the Barcelona board.
The club seems to have taken on an unusual vibe and is sending out warning signals. The Barcelona board, for example, doesn’t think that Xavi is building the team or that they were any better than Girona.
To be honest, it won’t be shocking if the two parties’ relationship ends at any time.
Alarm bells for Xavi?
All of this should raise alarm bells for Xavi Hernandez, as far as his place at the Barcelona helm is concerned.
The Spaniard has been under pressure in the past, but after two years of rebuilding, coupled with a series of investments, the board has raised their expectations this time around.
But with Barcelona still struggling to perform in La Liga, it is time for Xavi to pull up his socks and guide the team back to winning ways.
A victory over Royal Antwerp later this evening could be a must, while Barcelona must also secure wins in the remaining matches of this calendar year.
Barça have matches against Almeria and Valencia awaiting them after the Antwerp clash.
