Lionel Messi injury concern scares Inter Miami fans
Lionel Messi’s injury was downplayed by Inter Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino on Monday as the resurgent MLS team got ready for a matchup with Philadelphia in the Leagues Cup semifinal.
According to numerous US sources, Argentina’s great Messi seemed to sprain his right ankle during a practice session in Fort Lauderdale early on Monday.
Later, Martino, though, stated that there was no reason to worry about Messi’s fitness.
“I didn’t see exactly what happened but I imagine that if it had been something serious, the players would all be shocked and since they were all fine, I think nothing happened,” Martino said.
Less than a month into his career with Miami, Messi can help the club into their first final with a victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Messi has scored eight goals in five appearances for Miami since making his debut for the club on July 21.
