Without Messi and other important players, Inter Miami calls up members of their youth squad for their MLS match.
Prior to the team’s departure to New York City to play the Red Bulls in matchday five of the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, Tata Martino addressed the media.
One of the well-known worldwide leagues that doesn’t take a break during the international window is Major League Soccer (MLS). This weekend, on Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, there will be 13 matchday five games.
Due to the FIFA window, which affects both teams with players on international service, Inter Miami—who is also playing their sixth game of the season—travels to the Big Apple to take on the NY Red Bulls.
Ahead of the trip to New York, Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino spoke to the media present at the Fort Lauderdale team’s training base and offered an update on the evolution of Leo Messi, who despite having returned to training, is still not yet ready to play.
“He is recovering. He has been out on the field for a few days now and is improving day by day so we are paying attention to his progress but he is not ready to play yet. Today is the fourth day that he has been back on the pitch,” Martino explained to the media present.

In an attempt to assemble a strong team to take on Red Bulls, Martino called attention to Messi’s absence in addition to those of other injured players and call-ups.
