Both on and off the field, Ten Hag’s Manchester United are going through a difficult moment. The season has had a challenging start, which has been made worse by the loss versus Bayern Munich in the Champions League opening. It’s time for them to nurse their wounds against Burnley, who were just promoted to the Premier League.

Ten Hag Addressed the Media
Coach Erik ten Hag addressed the media prior to the game on a number of topics, beginning with Jadon Sancho, whom the Dutchman openly accused of having inadequate training. After the Englishman took to social media to support his position, the coach took offense and removed him from the team.
“It depends on him,” Ten Hag said about Sancho. “For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley and that’s our focus. He will not be in the squad.”
Numerous things have been attributed to United’s bad play, but some people have also been held accountable, such as new goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has made multiple mistakes that have resulted in goals conceded.

“It’s about team and, as a team, we don’t have the results in this moment so then also individuals don’t bring the performance you expect, not only one player, there are more, including the manager,” he said.
“I always tell my players we attack with 11 and we defend with 11. When one or two are not doing their job, it’s like a pack of cards, so that is not only one or two players.”
Ten Hag has come under fire over suggestions that there is a conflict of interest as his agent, Kees Vos, and his Sports Entertainment Group, has sold various clients of his to United.
“For player decisions, transfers, it’s always 50-50, we both have a veto – the club, represented by John Murtough, and me. So there can never be a distraction,” he said
